This head of stone is the landmark of the beautiful city of Passau.
Though its origin couldn't be figured out yet, people assume that this head was part of a statue on top of the Passau cathedral, which was burned down in a town fire in 1662.
The head now can be seen near the Stephandom.

Lovely tone and texture. Those lips are intriguing.
ReplyDeleteVery old then, and with a very interesting expression. I like the texture of the stone against the ivy leaves.
ReplyDeleteNice b&w and interesting history.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it!
